I hope all of you must enjoyed the sparkling festival of Diwali. May this auspicious festival bring
you and your family health, wealth and success.
The Festival of Lights, Diwali is a celebration that marks the victory of good over evil, light over
dark and knowledge over ignorance. Celebration of such festivals helps us to keep connected to
our roots, our culture, our values, and our origin. It is at this time that businessmen offer pujas,
start new books of accounts, and pay off all debts to start a new year afresh. The beginning of a
new calendar year is a good opportunity to think about what you’d like to do a little differently –
and set some intentions in the form of New Year’s resolutions.
Many of us are taking pledge like to be healthier, to be more organised, to spend less, to
complete the project etc, etc. for the upcoming year. Let us take a pledge to wear Khadi clothes
at least once a week for a cause, in the interest of our nation. I appeal all the GTU affiliated
institutions to take up this resolution for New Year.
Now you may say why Khadi?
Khadi over the decades has moved from a freedom fighter’s identity fabric to a fashion icon. It is
stylish. The world is becoming more ecologically and ethically aware. Reducing our carbon foot
print by using low energy alternatives is the mantra. Khadi represents a spiritual and a
sustainable way of life. The biggest advantage of Khadi is its versatility. It is an all-season fabric.
Other advantages of Khadi are: the spinning-wheel Provides employment and hence food to poor
people who spin and weave Khadi cloth. It is made of cotton, so farmers get money. It is eco-
friendly. It is porous and made of cotton, so healthful. It’s Austere & simple. Hence it is a
statement about your lifestyle and values. Again, I request all of you to try something new,
something fresh, something innovative and something in the interest of our nation.
I strongly believe that every student is a ‘Winner’ and is born to do something unique. Today
should be better than yesterday and future should be brighter than today. If students achieve
academic excellence with this motive, efforts of faculty members in classrooms are successful.
I extend my best wishes to all students for upcoming examination!!!
